Activity AJHS Class of 1988 Reunion
Location There will be two events: The adult get together will be March 15th (probably 5PM-10PM), will occur on the patio of the Mammoth Saloon at the Goldfield Ghost Town (http://www.goldfieldghosttown.com/) just Northeast of AJ on the Apache Trail heading toward Canyon Lake. The second event will be a family BYO picnic at Prospector Park (just north of Four Peaks Elementary School on Idaho Rd) on Sunday, March 26th. It will likely start around noon or 1PM.

Additional details As noted above, the evening event on the 15th of March will be a dinner at the Mammoth Saloon. It will be an adult-only event (which means no kids, not that we are expecting live strippers). Barring rain, we will be on the outdoor patio with a great view of the Superstition Mountains. We will have 80s music playing over a sound system, and any specific requests should be requested prior to the event through Tom Wray at GuitarTommy@GuitarTommy.com . The consensus was for a casual event, so we will let everyone decide how casual you feel comfortable dressing (given that you have not seen your classmates in 20 years). In mid-March, the temperature should be very nice. In case of rain, the owner has assured me that he will move the event indoors. Dinner will be outdoor Bar-B-Q style, with your choice of steak or chicken, salad, baked potato, beans, bread, and an apple dumpling. I'm sure that we can also arrange a vegetarian meal for those that would prefer it. There is an open bar at the Saloon (that seems a bit redundant), but drinks (at least alcoholic) won't be included with the meal. We still need to work out the details, but we will likely stay from 5 to 10PM. The owner said that he can be a little flexible on closing if necessary, but those of you who want to party into the wee hours may want to make other plans for later.

The following day, Sunday the 16th, there will be a family picnic so that we can all see what everyone's really been doing the last 20 years. Apparently, the last reunion included a Bring Your Own Food/Drinks picnic, and it was very successful, so it has been suggested that we do that again. We are still working out the plans, but expect to have it at Prospector Park. The event will be very casual, so plan to bring games/activities and blankets to sit on.

As far as price, we are asking $40 per person for the evening event. That will cover our meals and the facility, including tip and clean up. Because the picnic is BYOPicnic, there is no additional fee. Some may choose to only attend the picnic, but we really encourage everyone to attend the full event. For one thing, the adult event will allow people to talk and mingle more freely. Everyone will be able to enjoy themselves rather than worry about where the kids are and what they are doing. And finally, we have the owner of the Saloons guarantee that the evening event will not be rained out. There are no such guarantees on the picnic. In either case, please do the following. Please send me a short letter stating your name (including maiden name, or any other name that your old high school chums would know you by), current address, phone number, and email address. We will also need to know how many tickets you need for the evening event on the 15th (adults only), along with $40 for each ticket (please indicate for each person whether you would prefer steak, chicken, or a vegetarian plate). And, finally, we need to know how many people will be attending the picnic for planning purposes. Send this information/money to me ASAP at...

I am not setting a specific deadline for the money yet. However, we do need to put down a deposit on the Saloon within the next few weeks, and the full sum will be required prior to the event. So, please send the money ASAP. Thank you.

P.S. As of 11/12/07, we only have 5 people who have sent in their money. I know things are tight around the holidays, but we have to be sure that everyone is committed to making this thing happen. Please get your money in as soon as possible. Thanks.
