Activity Class of 1997 Reunion
Location The Saturday Night Reception on October 6, 2007 will be held at the Iron Mountain Marina Conference Center. Please see post for additional details about the reunion.
Date October 06, 2007
Additional details Hello everyone!

1. The reunion will be held at Football Homecoming, which will be October 5th-6th of 2007.

2. The tentative schedule at this time is:

Friday Night:
A. Homecoming Game: Please come and show your support for the Home Team and also let's have some large numbers to really represent the Class of 1997!

Saturday:
A. Saturday morning tour of high school. Following the tour, we will have a picnic (BRING YOUR FAMILY) at the Lower Dam.

B. Saturday Night: Party/reception at Iron Mountain Marina.

Sunday: OPEN. We tried not to schedule too many things, as many have said they want to have time to do their own thing. Maybe we can do an informal brunch that the classmates (who remain) can attend.

I will be emailing/mailing out registration forms and information regarding payment this week (Week of 8/20/07).

Registration fees will be as follows:

$40: Individuals
$65: Couples
$15: Additional Friends and Family
FREE! Children (under 13)

Frequently Asked Questions

1) What time are the events?
A. The Friday Night Football game is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm, on October 5th.
The tour of the high school will begin at 10:00 and last about 45-minutes to an hour.
We hope that Mr. Hunter will be available to give the tour. A picnic at the Degray Lower Dam will follow (11:30 - 1:30). Of course, people can stay longer at the Lower
Dam, if they choose. The Saturday night mixer will begin at 7:30 and end at 11pm.
Younwill be informed ASAP if there are changes to these times.

2) Does my registration fee pay for my attendance at the Football game on Friday night?
A. No; the fee to enter the game (for adults) is $5. Dr. Parsons (the AHS principal)
was pretty firm that we would not be able to have free admission or a discounted fee.

3) Why are there not more events planned on the weekend?
A. The schedule for the weekend was based on ideas and thoughts of all our classmates and also with the idea that we wanted to keep the registration fee in such a range, that it would not be a great financial hardship for any classmate and/or family to attend. Several classmates that live out of town wanted to have personal time to spend with their families or close friends they have not seen in a long time. Thus, the
schedule that is planned is one that will provide structure and free time, at a
reasonable cost to almost everyone.

4) What is the dress for the Saturday night Mixer?
A. There is no specific dress code required. Casual to dressy-casual would probably cover it.

5) What will my registration fee provide? Why is there a charge at all?
A. When we graduated, we did not have a class fund or account to sponsor future reunions. The registration fee is for: the reservation fees of Iron Mountain Arena
and the Lower Dam Permit and reservation, the food for the picnic at the Lower Dam and the Saturday night Mixer, administrative costs (mailings, ect), decorations, any souvenirs. Also, for children under 13, there is no fee.

6) Are children welcome at reunion events?
A. Children are (of course) welcome at the football game. You are strongly encouraged to bring your children to the picnic at the Lower Dam. Use your parental discretion about bringing them to the high school tour. The Saturday night Mixer is an Adults only event.

7) What will happen with any unused registration funds?
A. Any unused funds will be put in a class account for future reunions or other class activities.

8) Where is Iron Mountain Marina?
A. The address is: 134 Iron Mountain Marina Drive Arkadelphia, AR 71923. Take Exit 78 off I-30 and go two miles north on Highway 7. Turn left on Skyline Drive and drive another 2.5 miles to the Marina. The phone number is 870-246-4310.

9) What are the hotel accommodations?
A. I did not email any information about hotel accommodations, as many classmates are living in the Arkadelphia area and many from out of town will lodging with family. The majority of hotels are still located in Caddo Valley. If you are coming from out
of town, and will be seeking a hotel, I would encourage you to make your reservation
as soon as possible. Gurdon High School is celebrating their 10 year reunion in town
the same day and there are a couple of family reunions and other events going on this same weekend.

10) Can I pay at the door?
A. Please send in your registration form and fees PRIOR to October 2, 2007 if at all possible! We do not want the cumbersome task of handling money the weekend of the event. Also, when purchasing the food, we need to have an accurate count of how many people are planning to attend.

11) Can I make a donation to the class account?
A. There may be some classmates that are in a financial position such that they would like to make a donation to the class account for this (and future) reunions. If you are interested, please email me (or Paul) and we will be glad to facilitate this.

I look forward to seeing you all there!
